Description

Data Management Plans and FAIR data are becoming commonplace in the Netherlands with both major funders - ZonMw and NWO - requiring data management and FAIR to be considered in grant applications.

ZonMw is revising its procedures for data management. It will accept plans written according to their its own template in DMPonline or other approved institutional templates. DMPs will be monitored against a set of key items that indicate the FAIRness of the data. NWO meanwhile requires that all proposals include a data management section. After a proposal has been awarded funding, the researcher should elaborate the section into a data management plan. A word template is provided and the template can also be completed in DMPonline.

This workshop will highlight what's new in terms of DMPonline and DMPs in the Netherlands. The DCC team will introduce the core functionlity of the tool and hands-on sessions will demonstrate and let you try out key features. The workshop will focus on the institutional perspective to consider how best to profile local support and assist researchers to develop sound DMPs which align with community data standards and practices for FAIR data sharing.

An invite-only user group session will run in the afternoon from 2:30-4:30pm to allow existing DMPonline subscribers to set priorities for service development. Potential topics for discussion include:

  • Plan versioning / lifecycle support
  • Machine-actionable DMPs - priority integrations
  • Usage statistics dashboard and enhancements
  • Multi-lingual support and content filtering by country context
  • Assessing the FAIRness of data plans
  • GDPR implications

The event will take place in the Doelenzaal, Building C (ground floor), University of Amsterdam Library, Singel 425.
